To honour the memory of Joe, and those like him who died in WWI, Langney Primary School held an Art History week in May. Students created stunning paintings and drawings of Joe, trench art from unwanted items and clay carvings reminiscent of WWI soldiers carvings found in the walls of trenches.
118 stones were also painted and hidden in the community with a request to return the stones – an activity designed to give the children an understanding of what it might feel like to wait for a loved one who had gone to war and not knowing if they would ever return.
The art week culminated in an art exhibition and fund raiser. Congratulations and thanks to the students of Langney Primary School for commemorating Joe in this way.
